One Leader

The concept of One Leader is for an empowered Resident Coordinator (RC) and an empowered UN Country Team to work together with clear accountability.

Under the One Leader concept, the empowered Resident Coordinator is expected to provide strategic leadership throughout the development programming process, bringing together relevant analytical capacities, both national and international, developing synergies between various UN “assets,” and linkages between the UN entities with their respective mandates and other partners.

The Resident Coordinator system brings together the different UN agencies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operational activities at the country level. The Resident Coordinator is the designated representative of the UN Secretary-General and the overall leader of the UN Country Team, which includes all UN agencies and offices working in Uganda.

Under the RC the UN Uganda is committed to acting collectively to enhance the UN’s role as an influential player. UN leadership will aspire to be visible; vocal; present and engaged; credible and influential; and consistent.
